Rooflock 48 for metal roofs is a solvent free coating system for refurbishing metal pitched roofs and cut edge corrosion. It is appreciated by specifiers for its superior aesthetics and by contractors for its single coat application.
For airless spray application.
Moisture tolerant.
With warranties of 15 and 25 years available, you have the assurance of a high performance and durable coating system. (For projects requiring a warranty, Rooflock must be consulted prior to commencement of the project).
Significant cost savings from reduced labour and access costs.
Save time on the project, guarantee consistency and remove ambiguity.
With the latest generation formulation, Rooflock 48 is solvent free and odourless
There is no requirement for a separate catalyst, saving time and labour cost.
Rooflock 48 coating does not contain solvents or isocyanates
Rooflock 48 can be applied to treat cut edge corrosion only (up to 15 years warranty) or as part of a full coating application.

Cut Edge Corrosion is the term given to corrosion that develops at the factory guillotined tail ends of profiled steel roof sheets. As the bare steel at the sheet end begins to corrode, the original coating peels off and the corrosion moves progressively up the roof sheet.
Additionally, as the original mid-lap sealants break down, water can be driven in by capillary action and retained between the roof sheets, exacerbating the corrosion from within.
It is estimated that that around 2 in 3 of metal roofs in the UK are affected by cut edge corrosion, and if left unchecked, this issue can progress to become a serious problem affecting both the weatherproofing and structural
integrity of the roof. The roof can deteriorate to the extent that replacement is the only option.
However, by addressing cut edge corrosion early with application of a dedicated metal protection product such as Rooflock 48 Coating System, potentially costly and disruptive remedial action can be avoided.
CAt 9.85t CO2e, steel has one of the highest values of embodied carbon in construction (even higher than concrete). When a steel roof is removed and replaced, this embodied carbon is written off and added directly to the organisation’s Scope 3 emissions reports.
By making a timely, sustainable choice and using Rooflock 48 Coating to either treat cut edge corrosion or as coating to the entire metal roof, the environmentally costly option of roof replacement can be avoided, and the roof is protected
for the future.
