St Nicholas Shopping Centre

The Task: Yes, this is a roof! This is in fact the urban open space forming the podium decking of St Nicholas Shopping Centre in Aberdeen. The Bon Accord & St Nicholas Shopping Centre is the second-largest shopping centre complex in Aberdeen, home to several leading brands.
The 30-year-old asphalt roof had failed and was in urgent need of a complete refurbishment.

The Solution: Rooflock Twelve Podium Waterproofing System was specified to create a new waterproof base to the paved area. This unique podium roofing project combined the Rooflock Twelve system with a Mapei screed and paving flags to form part of the new St Nicholas Rooftop Garden, opened on 2 October 2015.
